We are breaking records! Unbelievable!

The highest number of godwits, lapwings, redshanks, and great snipes in Poland was recorded on our plot located in the Gródecko-Michałowska Trough in Podlasie!
The report from the Bird Monitoring in the breeding season of 2023 has already been published, including data from the Meadow Waders Monitoring. The highest number of godwits, lapwings, redshanks, and great snipes was observed in the LS69 plot, which overlaps with our area protected by an anti-predator fence. Here, 42 godwits were observed, representing 25% of all observed in the entire country – a total of 177 birds were recorded on the surveyed plots. We had 23 redshanks (total of 129 on all the surveyed plots). Quoting the aforementioned document:
"The highest number of lapwings (40 birds) was found on the LS69 plot in the Gródecko-Michałowska Trough, which, due to the high numbers of godwits and redshanks, becomes one of the most important places for meadow waders in Poland.
It should be noted that these birds are nesting here.
As if that were not enough, this year on this plot, we also had the largest lek of great snipes in Poland – 46 males!
We are very proud of these results and are pleased that our activities are producing such results. At the same time, we are aware of our responsibility for the populations of these birds. Of course, we are deeply concerned about the decline in numbers in other areas.
