An account by ornithologist Grzegorz Grygoruk, who observed the bird:
"European roller was last seen in Podlasie 09.09.2017. It was a first-year migrating bird. The last European rollers breeding in our country were seen a few more years before. There was a lot of joy when I (together with two colleagues) saw the roller today, sitting on a birch tree in the valley of the Narew River, on meadows of the PTOP.
The bird is evidently migrating. After a few minutes of observation, the bird flew off directionally to the north. I dream that one day they will start breeding in our country again. Perhaps it would be in the Narew Valley, where that species was regularly present in the past?"
