The black-tailed godwits are back.
There is already a dozen or so of them within the electric fence.
There is also a large number of lapwings and skylarks, as well as a pair of whooper swans foraging in the shallows. Redshanks are the loudest, they are challenging to spot, but can be heard all over the area.
Flocks of common snipes traverse the landscape.
Today, we checked the integrity of the fence. Despite cloudy skies and strong winds, it was a relaxing walk, perhaps thanks to the sound of splashing water.
