Success in "breeding"
We have the greatest success in "breeding" birds on very wet plots, where there is water all year round in some places.
Great snipes, lapwings, black-tailed godwits and redshanks choose such places for their nests. Additionally, the herding instinct, or in other words: the desire to nest in a group, is at work here. The presence of birds attracts more waders. This way, the best areas "suck in" birds from the area.
Magpies, harriers and gulls patrol the area looking for unguarded eggs and chicks.
