21 “Blackjack” and a record-breaking pace. Since the beginning of the season, 21 flags of Eurasian Curlews have already been read at breeding sites in Poland. In previous years, we had to wait much longer for such results. This is certainly not the end. Some birds with flags have not yet been identified. Reading a flag is not a simple task.
All 21 birds were released as part of the conservation programme. Without protection, most of them would have perished at the egg stage, in the stomachs of foxes or ravens. Thanks to the conservation programme, they are alive and strengthening the national population.
